Energy cleansing: clearing heavy energies and what you feel during release practices

Cristina Balan Written byCristina Balan

In recent years, I have done dozens of release and cleansing livestreams, some ten minutes long and others over two hours. And every time I receive the same questions: ‘Cristina, is it normal to keep yawning?’, ‘Why am I cold?’, ‘What do I do afterwards?’ So I have gathered here everything I know about energy cleansing for yourself — your body and energy field, not your home.

For the home, I wrote separately in the article on energy cleansing of the home. Here we talk about you: what energy cleansing is, how to recognize you need it, how to do it step by step — with intention, formulas, salt, and oil — what you feel while doing it, and how to recharge afterwards.

What personal energy cleansing is

Besides the physical body, you have an energy body: the aura, chakras, and energy channel along the spine. Over time, energies that are not yours accumulate on it: traumas, ties to people, and energies taken from the lineage, relationships, or places. We create many of them ourselves.

Energy cleansing means removing from your field everything that is not you and calling back your energy. And release practices are the formulas through which you do this: with resolve, you declare that you cancel, cut, undo, and return what does not belong to you.

And here is the key: you are not reciting a poem. It is not about affirmations; it is about programming your energy field. What matters is the spiritual strength you place behind every phrase.

Cleansing has two equally important phases: discharging (removing what is old) and charging (filling yourself with light). Whoever skips the second remains empty and fragile.

Signs you need energy cleansing

  • You feel heavy, as though anchored low. You cannot rise, make no headway, and your energy stands still.
  • You have bodily sensations without a clear energetic explanation: heaviness, stabbing sensations, something like cold handcuffs around the ankles or wrists, pressure on the back of your neck or face.
  • Your chakras are slow. When chakras do not spin fast enough, things attach to them. When they spin rapidly, like an engine, nothing catches you.
  • You have repeating programs: ‘I do not deserve it’, ‘life is hard’, ‘others are better than me’, the victim role.
  • You no longer feel anything or cannot imagine anything when you close your eyes. Often this signals trauma, dissociation, or too much mental activity.
  • You begin yawning, burping, or tearing up as soon as you start a release practice. This is the simplest test: if the body reacts, you have cleansing to do.

Please: if you have pain, dizziness, or physical symptoms that do not pass, see a doctor first. Energetic work can support you, but does not replace examination and treatment.

How to prepare

  1. Sit down. Do not stand, because you may become dizzy. You can cleanse lying down too — often it is even easier.
  2. Center yourself. Everyone works for themselves. The energy you generate remains for you and you alone.
  3. Prepare your oil (I use musk and protection mix) and, if you wish, a pack of salt to sit on.
  4. Keep water nearby. If you feel like drinking water during cleansing, drink.
  5. Pause briefly after every phrase: concentrate, place spiritual strength behind it, and let the body work.

How to cleanse your energy: the basic formulas

These are the formulas I use in almost every livestream. Say them aloud, slowly, with resolve:

  1. ‘My free will belongs to me and me alone, and I allow nobody to affect it.’
  2. ‘My body belongs to me and me alone.’ (Likewise with the mind, aura, energy, and energy system.)
  3. ‘I cut all ties on my chakras.’ Visualize your chakras, spin them, and cut around yourself with a sword of light.
  4. ‘I cancel all anchors placed on me.’
  5. ‘I undo all soul contracts through which I give energy to others.’
  6. ‘I ask everything that is not me to leave my body now.’
  7. ‘I program my field so that any magic directed at me transforms into spiritual strength for me.’
  8. ‘I call to myself all my energy, given willingly and unwillingly, consciously and unconsciously, from all times and spaces, lives and dimensions, and beyond them.’ Open your energy body to receive it back, purified.
  9. ‘I ask the old energies to leave my body now. Thank you for helping me, but I am now ready to move to the next level. I leave you with love and gratitude.’
  10. ‘The only truth I recognize is God, love, and light.’

When you alchemize something and do not know into what, simply choose: into light and love.

And remember: this is not about revenge or attack. It is about balance and staying centered on yourself. You send back, program your field, and get on with your life. If you spend all day fighting, you have not yet reached the stage where you create.

Exercises for cleansing the energy body

The thread of light

Close your eyes. Imagine a thread of light, like a laser given to you by God, and pass it through your whole body. Visualize your energy and see where the dark areas are. If you see tar, imagine taking a match and set it alight. Another option I often use: I ‘cut’ myself in two and let everything old emerge.

Light from top to bottom

Draw light through the crown chakra and push it downward until it exits through the root chakra. Then imagine every pore opening and everything that is not you emerging. Take the light down to the cellular level.

The soles of the feet and the warm shower

We have chakras in the soles. Open them gently like lids, and the root chakra too. Imagine drinking warm water that washes through your whole body and exits through the soles, or standing under a warm shower.

Raising your vibration through small tremors

It is one of my favorite techniques, and it really works. Lying down, shake your whole body gently, as when you jiggle a leg in bed, but with micro-movements throughout the body. This raises your vibration, and from above you release more easily.

The livestream example: cleansing one person

In one livestream, I cleansed a single person so you could see what advanced cleansing looks like. Each cleansing follows what I see in the person’s field, but the techniques apply to everyone. A few moments:

  • She had a black thread along the spine — something many have. In consciousness, she cut along the spine and removed it.
  • She became very cold. When you are cold during cleansing, trauma is leaving. She took a blanket, then I guided her into the sun in consciousness to melt the ice in her body.
  • We spoke to the trauma: ‘Dear trauma, you helped me survive. You crystallized into ice in my body. But now I cleanse myself. I am not in danger.’ Then she embraced her inner child: ‘From now on, we are no longer cold.’
  • We dissolved programs taken on in childhood to survive: ‘I ask all programs I took on in childhood to survive to dissolve now.’ We replaced the ‘I do not deserve it’ program with ‘I deserve it’.
  • We removed our masks: ‘I remove all masks from myself.’ We build masks to survive, but they block the self.
  • We ended with: ‘I am light, and I burn everything that is not light.’

And most importantly: when it became too intense, we stopped. A person can only handle as much as they can bear. Do not force it.

Energy cleansing with salt

Salt is the foundation. Once you put down the salt, release practices accelerate: you settle on salt and read the release phrases. Here is how I use it:

  • The salt ritual at least once a month, even if you feel well. I do not do it more often than I feel necessary; it depends on how much work I have done.
  • If you feel attacked or face greater dangers: a salt pack every day, changing the salt daily; do not remain on the same salt for three days.
  • The salt pillow is changed once a week when you change the sheets.
  • When your chest burns after unblocking, simply place salt on your chest.
  • Before a bath you can spend five minutes on salt; after major upgrades I take a salt bath, apply musk, and sleep.

If you feel ill while on salt or feel a great deal ‘flowing’, it means you have cleansing to do. Continue, but at your own pace.

The oils: musk and protection mix

Musk cleanses very strongly. You can use it on all chakras during cleansing, or where you feel pain or stabbing sensations. I like making an ethereal ‘rain of musk’: I imagine musk raining over the aura and whole energy body. Sometimes I also put a drop on each wrist. At the heart you can use half rose, half musk: musk cleanses; rose builds the vibration of love.

Be aware: oils are applied externally only. They are not swallowed or eaten. If you have an allergic reaction, wash with water and see a doctor. And the energy with which you apply it matters: oil applied consciously does not have the same effect as oil applied in haste.

Soul pieces: how to call them back

Through traumas, relationships, and contracts, we leave soul pieces behind. In one livestream, we worked only on this:

  1. ‘I cancel all soul contracts through which I accept soul pieces being taken from me, knowingly or unknowingly.’
  2. ‘I forgive and leave behind all events in which I left soul pieces. I alchemize them into understanding, love, and compassion, take the gifts and lessons, and reclaim my soul pieces.’
  3. ‘I ask all my lost soul pieces to return to me.’
  4. ‘I love you, and I am sorry I left you. I want to become whole again.’
  5. ‘I ask all old energies to leave my body, and I give them to Mother Earth because she knows what to do with them.’

When you call them back, consciously open your body to receive them. You may shake a little. If you become sleepy, that is fine: you work unconsciously. You can find more about release practices in the release-practices collection.

What you feel during energy cleansing

The body expresses itself — it is good that things come out. Here is what appears most often:

  • Yawning and burping — signs you are cleansing. This burping does not smell of food; it is energetic. Notice where you yawned: you have cleansing to do there.
  • Tears. When the eyes tear up, the soul cries — sometimes from sadness, sometimes joy.
  • Cold or heat. Cold is trauma leaving. Heat comes when cleansing is strong and positive, when love enters.
  • Shivers, goosebumps, shaking like an electric current — these are high energies.
  • Sleepiness, fatigue, headaches — you are changing energetic level, and the psyche needs to integrate.
  • Gas, needing the toilet, a soapy taste in the mouth, strange smells (petroleum, burning) — all cleansing too.
  • ‘Crazy’ laughter — it is part of cleansing as well. I say: burp, sleep, and laugh.
  • Nausea. It means a great deal of trauma. Do not hold it within you. Next time will be easier.

When something ends, a yawn usually comes, followed by peace and quiet. That is our natural state. But if a reaction is strong, does not pass, or frightens you, stop, rest, and seek a doctor’s advice.

What to do after cleansing: charging

  • Fill yourself with light. Make a bubble of light from your heart and all chakras around your aura. Or throw circles, triangles, and shapes of light toward yourself until you are filled.
  • Activate your chakras and spin them: to the left they cleanse; to the right they charge. The chakra knows what it needs.
  • Say the vows: ‘Yes to God, yes to life, yes to love, yes to light’ — each three times, and repeat them regularly.
  • Sleep with 528 Hz music or Reiki music for a few nights.
  • Ground yourself: gardening, cleaning, exercise, physical tasks. If you rise too quickly, the difference from the energy below is too great.
  • Be quiet for a little while. In silence, intuition tells you a great deal. Listen to the soul’s subtle voice, not the voice shouting in your head.

When cleansing alone is not enough

Spells and heavy energies attach against a psychological background: childhood fragility, fear, or anxiety. When you have will and mental strength, they do not attach as easily. That is why combining approaches is good: sometimes psychology alone is not enough; sometimes release practices alone are not enough. If you are beginning, start with the foundations — the inner child, mother, father — and work with a psychologist or psychotherapist, especially if you experienced trauma, abuse, or depression.

And do not seek rescuers. The flow of energy needs to go from you to you.

Frequently asked questions about energy cleansing

What is energy cleansing?

It is the work through which you remove from your body and energy field everything that is not you — old energies, ties, traumas, magic — and call back your energy. It uses intention, release phrases spoken with resolve, salt, oil, and visualizations, and ends with charging with light.

How can I cleanse my energy myself?

Sit down, center yourself, and say the basic formulas: your free will belongs to you, you cut chakra ties, ask everything that is not you to leave, and call your energy back. Add the thread of light through the body, ethereal rain of musk, and the bubble of light at the end. Ideally, remain on salt during release practices.

How often do I perform energy cleansing with salt?

The salt ritual at least once a month. If you feel attacked, daily, with salt changed every day. Change the salt pillow once a week.

Is yawning, burping, or feeling cold during release practices normal?

Yes. Yawning, burping, tears, cold, heat, and sleepiness are frequent reactions. Cold indicates trauma leaving; heat indicates love entering. If a reaction is strong or does not pass, stop and see a doctor.

Can I perform energy cleansing for my children?

If they are minors, you can work for them too as their mother or father. Adult children live their own experience, however, and you do not intervene there. Focus on yourself.

Your body, energy, and soul belong to you. Cleanse gently, fill yourself with light, and then live your life: paint, dance, laugh. Sending you a kiss, and I look forward to seeing you at the next livestream.

Energy cleansing: symbolic exercises and discernment

Energy cleansing can be approached as a spiritual practice of reflection and visualization. Images of heaviness, space, and release are personal symbols; they do not verify external influences or establish the cause of feeling unwell.

How to work with an image without treating it as a diagnosis

The material proposes visualizations in which heaviness is represented by boulders or other forms. You can use such an image to name a responsibility or worry. You remain free to change the image or abandon it. Physical discomfort is not proof the practice works and should not be pursued as a goal.

An exercise you can adapt

Choose a mild worry you feel able to look at. Imagine placing it on a sheet before you. Ask what you can do concretely and what is outside your control. End the visualization, look around the room, and choose a familiar activity.
