A symbol is an image, an object or a sign to which we attribute a meaning. The meaning can come from a tradition, a family story or a personal experience. Before interpreting a spiritual symbol, ask what context it comes from. Do not assume that an explanation found in one place applies to all traditions.
A symbol does not have the same meaning for everyone
In an intuitive drawing, for example, a circle can be for you a marker of continuity. For another person it can have another meaning. Interpretation is a starting point for conversation, not proof about character or destiny.
How you use a symbol in your journal
Choose an image that attracts you and describe first what you see: shapes, colors and positions. Only then write what associations come to you. This step helps you separate the observation from the story built around it.
Complete "For me, today, this image means...". The words "for me" and "today" leave room for change. You do not need to fix a definitive interpretation in order to find a useful question.
Keep the freedom of choice
If a symbol leads your thought to protection, ask yourself what concrete gesture gives you more safety: a clear agreement, a pause or the request for support. The image can recall the gesture, without replacing it.
Do not make important decisions based only on the repeated appearance of a sign. You can verify the information and ask for time. If you choose a painting or an object, buy it for the aesthetic or personal value you see, without the guarantee of an outer result.
Frequently asked question
Is there a dictionary that explains any symbol? Meaning depends on context. A dictionary can orient the reading, but does not establish your personal interpretation.
