A candle can mark the beginning of a moment of quiet, of a prayer or of a reading. Its meaning depends on the frame in which you use it. The color or shape does not guarantee an outer result and must not become a reason for fear.
A marker for the chosen time
You can keep the same practice with an electric light too. If fire is not suitable for your space, this choice lets you set aside time for reflection without burning.
Prepare the place before lighting
Put the candle in an adequate holder, on a stable surface, away from paper, curtains and other flammable materials. Respect the manufacturer's instructions. Keep your distance from children and animals and do not leave the candle burning unattended.
Extinguish it completely before leaving the room or going to bed. Do not turn a ritual into an obligation to let the fire burn regardless of the situation. Caring for your space is part of choosing the practice.
Choose an intention you can follow
Before the reading, write one sentence: "This week I want to ask for help more clearly". After the reading, note whom you can address the request to and in what words. The candle can recall the pause, and the request is the step that takes the intention into ordinary life.
Do not interpret the flame or the way the wax burns as an answer about a person. If you have a question about a relationship, look for facts and a suitable conversation. A burning incident calls first for checking the product and the conditions of use.
